Livia De Simone was born in Rome in 1977. After graduating from “III Liceo Artistico” (Arts High School), she studied Architecture at University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’. She started working in the architecture field, specialising later in the graphics field.
She has always cultivated her passion for drawing, and in 2010 she started working as a freelance illustrator. Her illustrations primarily delve into fantasy themes and the choice of this genre is borne of her great love for books and reading.
She favours digital drawing, but she equally masters traditional techniques such as pencils, acrylics, cloth and ceramic painting.
She has created several covers and illustrations for novels and short novels, for authors or for some publishers. (Le Figlie di Ananke, Nuova Terra, Nuova Vita, Tiger Fighters by Dilhani Heemba, Il Segreto dell’Ordine by Monique Scisci, Saga Pactum Vampiri by Barbara Riboni, La Lettrice. Lo Spirito dei ghiacci di Chiara Panzuti, are just some of the authors with whom she worked).
In 2014, after winning a contest held by Dunwich Edizioni, she has started a collaboration with their publishing house while continuing to illustrate for several other authors.
In 2015 she made some illustrations for the writer Francesca Pace, and she began working with DZ publishing. Cultural Association and publisher founded by Francesca Pace.
Also in 2015 she started a collaboration with Astro edizioni. In 2016 she published her first Illustrated Book, Imaginarium. A collection of her illustrations accompanied by texts of writer Francesca Pace.
In 2018 she published another illustrated book dedicated to Norse mythology, "Gods of the North". In 2019 she started a collaboration with Fanucci editore, for cover book such as "The Wheel of Time" by Robert Jordan, and other books.
Currently works with many fantasy authors and several publishing houses, and she is the art director for DZ publishing.
