I'm a 2016 English Literature graduate (1st Class Hons) from the University of Southampton currently working in Digital Marketing at Sony Music UK. I have previous copywriting experience from Haygarth and BBH London, and have also worked as a freelance copywriter and journalist. I am a self-motivated and dedicated individual with a strong academic background. I love learning more about the world around me and stretching my mind to understand new subjects. I’m a collector of information, gathering knowledge and inspiration everywhere I go, and always looking for new ways to improve my writing and creativity.Locked Pro Plan feature
Filtr is Sony Music’s playlist brand, operating across Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer. My main duties include: writing and updating playlist descriptions for improved SEO, creating content for social channels, conducting audience research and developing new ideas for playlists, and working with the design team to create new packshots and advertising assets. I also deliver sound beds for our Spotify adverts, track our homepage takeovers on Google Analytics, and compile our monthly reports.
The Planet Drum is one of the UK’s leading drum, percussion and music tuition schools. I worked with them to find their tone of voice, and created a style guide for future reference, while re-writing the copy for their new website.
Being the first copywriting intern to ever work in ZAG, I was given responsibility quickly, and had much creative freedom. I worked on accounts including: Tailster, Dabbl, and London Fashion Week.
As a musician myself, I did much writing for the Music section of TNS, writing album and live reviews, as well as interviews and special feature pieces. I also wrote for the Food, Fashion and Lifestyle sections, as well as reporting news stories across all topics.
As my first introduction to copywriting, I quickly learned the importance of minor detail, and about the relationship between design and copy. I worked on accounts including: Disney, Rachel's Organic, Sony Xperia, and Gillette Venus.
While at Southampton, I wrote for The Edge Magazine, which led to my position as a writer at The National Student. I was also a member of several societies, including Boxing, Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Latin & Ballroom Dance, and Street Dance. I particularly enjoyed the Creative Writing modules I studied during my degree, and eventually submitted a Creative Writing piece for my final dissertation, instead of the usual academic essay. I received a First for my dissertation, and previously in my second year, won the faculty prize for Best Overall Academic Performance.
