About me

@lliodaviesdesignermaker I’m a lighting designer and maker based in Cardiff, I use porcelain for its translucency, delicacy and strength. It’s the perfect material for minimal lighting that reminds us to slow down and reconnect with ourselves. I am driven by the fear of darkness and insomnia. I used to struggle a lot with both until I started to research into lighting, it has incredible abilities for our mental health. My favourite book to read is ‘the eyes of the skin’ by a Finnish architect, Juhani Pallasmaa. It pointed the way to transform my lighting into a multi-sensory experience which facilitates a sense of belonging and integration. I’m still making my way through lockdown, I’m extremely grateful to still have access to my studio. On the other hand, i’m on my fourth week of trying to complete 1000 piece jigsaw of Vincent Van Gough Starry Night, it’s not going well....
