About me
Formally trained musician with an international background and a rigorous work ethic. Looking for opportunities in live music venues, music business, and event management.
With over 15 years of experience as a musician, I completed a Foundation Certificate in Popular Music & Music Technology and a bachelor's degree in music at the Liverpool Institue for Performing Arts. I work as a session musician, having recorded in various studios and toured across the UK as a live performer.
Aside from session work, I am a self-employed music teacher. I have extensive knowledge of practical technique and musicianship skills, and I am well-versed in music theory. I’m interested in the learning process and am very keen to develop my knowledge of teaching through guitar tutoring, as well as passing on my knowledge and passion for guitar and music in general.
I am currently doing a part-time internship in Live Sound & Event Management at Future Yard, a music venue and creative hub in Merseyside. l am developing skills in the technical aspects of capturing live performances, and receiving training in managerial tasks such as artist liaison and event coordination. I am shadowing industry professionals and working alongside them to get hands-on experience in live events.

Currently based out of Liverpool, HAZMAT is composed of Iwan Douglas (vocals/rhythm guitar), Luca Visetti (lead guitar), Owen Brown (bass guitar) & Matt Birnie (drums). Having played guitar for over 14 years, completed a Foundation Certificate and bachelor’s degree in music, I have extensive knowledge of practical technique and musicianship skills. I am also well-versed in music theory and how to teach theoretical concepts on the guitar in an approachable way. I have also gained general teaching experience as a teaching assistant in Liverpool.
I have extensive experience as a professional guitar player, playing gigs in Sweden and across the UK. I play in multiple bands, performing and writing songs. I’ve worked as a producer and session musician, working in different genres such as rock, pop, hip-hop, folk, metal, and soul. I’ve toured the UK as a guitarist and backing vocalist, learning a lot about event and tour management throughout the experience.
As a musician, I have been responsible for organizing rehearsals, managing schedules, and coordinating performances. This experience has taught me the importance of attention to detail, time management, and effective communication.
I have experience creating online content both for myself and my bands, using audio and video editing software to create high quality promotional material. I’ve also used various photo editing programs and online tools to produce band posters and flyers. Furthermore, I’ve coordinated gig days for my bands, creating itineraries and event information sheets for our shows across the UK, a skill I picked up by observing tour managers. I prepare meticulously for my own gigs, contacting venue/event promoters to make sure shows run smoothly.
I work as a freelance tutor, providing support in music theory to a variety of students. Doing so has improved my communication skills on a one-to-one basis, as each individual student has their own unique set of experiences, skills, and methods of procession new information.
