About me
I recently graduated from the University of Kent with a 2:1 in English Literature and Spanish, a 4 year course which provided me with the opportunity to spend a year abroad. I chose to spend one semester in Spain and the other in Peru, and the year proved to be a pivotal time for me - I was thrown completely out of my comfort zone but as a result, not only my Spanish verbal communication skills improved but my interpersonal skills and general confidence rocketed. During my final year of studies I balanced my uni work with a front of house job in a thriving family restaurant in Canterbury. I also kept up going to the gym as well being a member of Kent's Raise and Give charity organisation. Juggling these helped me develop time management skills, and the restaurant gave me an insight into working in a fast paced environment. I have further experience working in a busy office environment (meeting deadlines, scheduling events and office briefings) through a series of temporary admin jobs I have undertaken over the years. I pride myself on my organisation skills, I'm a fast and willing learner and would consider myself as a confident and approachable person. A particularly strong interest of mine is travel, which initially sparked my interest in language learning. I've spent time in Uganda with a volunteer programme and have recently returned from backpacking around Central America. Thanks to my degree course I spend a lot of time reading, with a particular interest in Eighteenth Century English Literature (but my guilty pleasures are dystopian novels). As previously mentioned, I also enjoy going to the gym and am currently in training for my first 10k race. I'm applying for this position because the chance to work in such a well established company really appeals to me as a place to kick start my career.

    WaitressCafe Des Amis
    Canterbury, United KingdomFull Time
During my time at Cafe Des Amis I worked as a waitress up to five times a week alongside my final year of university. My responsibilities included serving up to twelve tables as well as working on the bar, greeting guests and doing my part in keeping up the lively atmosphere of the place. The restaurant is a thriving family business which has held up a good reputation in Canterbury since the 80s. Although it is relatively small it was constantly busy, and I was not only a waitress, but a symbol of the restaurant's values. The role helped me develop my customer service skills as well as working in a team and supporting the managers.

     - Oviedo, SpainFreelance
While on my year abroad in Spain in 2016, I worked as an English Conversation Tutor for a family I found on Au Pair World. This summer I returned to Oviedo for the second time and spent the summer with the same family. The family consists of the parents and four children; with each child I would spend an hour every day on a one to one basis giving them English grammar lessons, reading stories, or just generally telling them about all the great things English has to offer.
