Luiza Cruz-Flade failed art and maths at school. So the obvious career choice would be a graphic designer and then a producer right? Her parents still don’t quite understand how this happened. Neither does she. Born in South Africa, she grew up in Portugal and now works in London. Luiza speaks three languages and for no apparent reason at all is learning Russian – because she can. So as you can see her approach is very much “variety is the spice of life.” Luiza studied graphic design at Ravensbourne and is one of those lucky souls to have worked in creative, strategic and production based roles within established agencies across digital (Deepend), design + branding (English & Pockett), advertising (AMV BBDO) and post-production (The Mill). As Design Director, Luiza has lead teams creatively and strategically for high-profile clients such as BBC, Discovery Networks, Disney Channel and VUE Cinemas. She has directed many award-winning title sequences and promos across live action, design and animation. Her work has been showcased at Onedotzero and she has spoken at numerous design colleges. Luiza was Head of Post-Production at AMV BBDO. She established the LAB into a reputable department of 23 staff. Within 2 years Luiza turned it into a creative and profitable business making it AMV BBDO’s third largest revenue stream. In 2014, Luiza joined as a Producer at renowned post-production facility The Mill. Here she has worked on a range of projects for Samsung, BBC, Google and OFFF. Luiza works closely with Directors assisting them bring their ideas to life from concept, production to final delivery. Her experience as a creative practitioner has been invaluable in her role in production. Design is in her blood. She understands what is needed for creative talent to thrive to achieve the best output and focuses heavily on identifying and nurturing emerging young female talent – something she enjoys greatly. Her passion remains within her creative roots. In her spare time, she continues to design and create under the Social-Début experimental collective she set up. Luiza has a core passion for typography and this common thread can be seen across her body of work. Luiza is part of the directing duo Him & Her. She doesn’t have a favourite font or colour. And never will. It’s all about variety. She still uses a calculator. www.themill.com //// www.social-debut.comLocked Pro Plan feature
