  Wooded HeightsGranite Mountains, subarctic plateaus and ancient Caledonian forests form the landscape of Scotland's Cairngorms. This unique geography was formed by volcanic activity, later carved by giant glaciers and the extreme climatic conditions of the Ice Ages. Today, it makes up one of the United Kingdom’s most endangered habitats, a fragmented landscape, which is home to some of the country’s rarest wildlife. This ecosystem reflects nature’s ability to adapt and survive in the harshest of climates.
