Work history

2016

Press & Editorial Assistant

London Calling Arts

Jan 2016 - Apr 2016
  • This role involves creating content for the londoncalling.com site and monitoring digital progress using tools such as Google Analytics. My published work can be found here (<http://londoncalling.com/features/authors/lydia-cooper>). I proofread and upload all content to the site’s CMS, including special offers, listings and features. I copyedit newsletters and releases, handle press requests and schedule social media content on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

2015

Script Development Intern

Leopard Drama

Nov 2015 - Nov 2015
  • I worked for the Development Script Editor, reading television scripts and novels and assessing their potential for adaptation.

2015

Com & Munications Intern

South London Gallery

Aug 2015 - Oct 2015
  • This two month placement required me to plan and execute a creative and interesting weekly social media schedule for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and the SLG website. I used specialist programs such as CMS web design, MailChimp, TweetDeck, InDesign and Photoshop to promote the SLG’s exhibitions, new building project and partnership with Allied Editions for Frieze. The role also involved proofreading press releases, designing e-flyers and leaflets, building web pages and responding to media requests. I was heavily involved in the communications campaigns for their Fire Station announcement, Thea Djordjadze exhibition and Frieze Week activity.

2015

Arts Representative

Jesus College, Oxford

Dec 2013 - Jan 2015
  • Arts Rep was a demanding but enjoyable role which required me to create a weekly arts schedule, organise events, and to promote them via e-marketing and Facebook. The reciprocal marketing that I did with other institutions (other colleges, the Ashmolean, Modern Art Oxford) was useful practice for my later placement at the South London Gallery. I also planned a six-month campaign for a week-long student art festival (the Turl Street Arts Festival).

2014

Research Intern

National Trust

May 2014 - Sep 2014
  • The research I conducted during this internship received an award grant from Oxford. I worked for three months in the archives and on site to create new ideas for the exhibition space at the property. I designed themed campaigns for potential exhibitions and formulated ways in which to make them appealing to a range of visitors.

Education

2015

English Language and Literature

University of Oxford

Sep 2012 - Jun 2015
  • Upper Second Class Honours in English from Jesus College, Oxford. As well as improving my writing ability, my degree honed my copywriting, editing and research skills.
