Mahalia Fontaine, is a 20 something Jazz/Soul singer and writer hailing from West London. Her musical roots began in the church where she first started singing gospel music. Her love of gospel led her to join her school gospel choir, where she met Karen Gibson, within a year of her joining, won the Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year 2010. Mahalia then went on with the choir to perform for Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace, Pope Benedict XVI, Clarence B. Jones (Martin Luther King’s speech writer), and the US Ambassador at his residence. Mahalia has gone on to performe on many well known stages such as the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal festival hall, Westminster Abbey, Shepherds Bush Empire and at Jazz re:freshed and has appeared on BBC ‘Call the midwife’ series and sang in The Kingdom Choir at HRH Prince Harry and Meagan Royal wedding 2018 . Mahalia has a bachelors degree in Popular Music Performance at the University of West London. She’s currently recording her EP, working on a musical as well as a campaign for Tasha Keating’s She runs it a women empowerment initiative sponsored by Reebok as creative music director.
