About me
Hello! 👋 I'm Maisy Gigg, a final-year student at Cardiff Metropolitan University studying Fine Art (BA (Hons)), on a quest to broaden my artistic horizons. My creative journey is a mixed bag of exploration and experimentation, fueled by a deep-seated love for mixing media and styles. From eerie, thought-provoking paintings to warm, inviting portraits, my work covers quite the spectrum. I'm all about infusing my pieces with personal meaning while leaving enough space for viewers to bring their own interpretation to the table. You'll find me constantly toeing the line between portraiture, realism and expressionism, sometimes blurring the lines for that extra punch. It's all about breaking free from artistic constraints and diving headfirst into the endless pool of possibilities. Besides pushing the boundaries in traditional art, I've got this unexpected fascination with forensic art. There's something about its precision and structure that speaks to me, proving that art knows no boundaries. So, if you're up for a journey through emotions and creativity that knows no limits, you're in the right place. Let's connect and see where our artistic paths may lead! 🎨✨

Helen Gregory Memorial AwardCardiff Metropolitan University
This award was presented to me when I presented a series of my work with the hopes of receiving a bursary to travel to Amsterdam to explore some galleries and museums that I knew would benefit my artistic research. This is such an important award to receive too, mainly because of why it is an award in the first place and why winners are carefully selected.

    Fourth Plinth CompetitionArts Council England
When in Year 10 of Redden Court School, we were asked to design something to go on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square. This was right at the beginning of my artistic journey but I wanted to do something I was proud of in the hopes of getting somewhere with it. I made a small model of a man sitting in a ball in front of a designer logo. I titled the piece 'Rich and Poor'. It represented the margin between the two classes and how I felt about it. Surprisingly, I won out of all of the other students in my borough and was invited to accept an award from the Mayor of London. This was an amazing opportunity and I still cherish it to this day.
