About me
malakaï is a writer, theatre director, cultural producer + consultant from pre-gentrified Hackney. Led by curiosity and care, malakaï creates and interrogates through an unapologetically Afrocentric lens; disrupting systemic oppression and underrepresentation in the arts through socially-engaged artistic/strategic interventions. Their work explores queer intimacy, generational/migrational trauma, inner-city gentrification and unearthing Black Joy in dense built environments. They are currently co-director of literary arts organisation BORN::FREE, associate director at Theatre Peckham and are an associate with INvolve and Sour Lemons.
