- ConstructionConstruction is a screen printing project, which is part of the Modernity and Urban Space Module. It is developed from two overlapping photographic images. The architectural model-making paper is selected as a medium for the print as it represents the scaffolding and the strong construction foundation of the building. The first layer is selected using an image with a simple form to symbolise the internal structure of the building. It illustrates a pattern overlapping another pattern, which symbolised the construction method of a building. Its organic circular form also readily acts as a halftone image for the print. The second layer possesses a large structure in a shape of a magnified glass, representing the magnifier glass structure. The image was edited using Photoshop to create a halftone image. This layer is also printed with a silver paint to portray the galvanised metals that are involved in building skyscrapers as well as the shinny mirror exterior. The printing is not perfectly screened because the image uses the space close to the edge of the screen making it difficult for the paint to push through the screen. However, the mistakes created a nice effect of blending and blurring the edges of the print.
