About me
Throughout my academic study I have instigated diverse methods of working with glass to explore its inherent qualities. As a result I have experimented with blown glass, kiln glass and lampworking. The content of my practice focuses on richness of Welsh culture and heritage where I collect objects exploring making and narratives. The objects that I mostly collect are found or inherited, as often they have a narrative and a history behind them. It then becomes a creative process of collecting and making. Through using the medium of glass, the unpredictability of the material allows me to experiment with its qualities to create pieces with a strong narrative. I use found, and inherited objects as a starting point for my work, and reference them through experimenting and testing the boundaries in glass. I often use the fluidity of the glass to inform the shape of my pieces, which I then evaluate and combine with mix media.

    Hot Shop Assistant
    London, United KingdomInternship
I undertook at week’s placement at LGB. My duties consisted of assisting master blowers in the hot shop; picking colour from the kiln, marvering and making punties. I was also responsible of cleaning and maintaining the gallery. I worked alongside Peter Layton helping to make a new collection called ‘Sunburst.’ This process consisted of making and reviewing these pieces regularly, working as a part of a team in order to resolve design challenges. I also worked with the marketing team helping to prepare for an online silent auction. They had an open studio where the public would come in and watch the work being made. I took the role of speaking to visitors greeting them and explaining the different techniques the master blowers used.
