About me
I am a Menswear Designer currently working for a New Look. My departments are Jersey, Shirting and Outerwear. In my previous role at supplier CP International I specialised in Menswear woven's, more specifically shirts, however I have also designed swimwear, woven bottoms and jersey wear for some in-house brands.

CP is a Menswear Shirts supplier to many online & high-street stores including ASOS, Next, Zara, John Lewis, Armani, Farah and Fat Face. I have designed for a wide range of customers, creating technical pack’s and providing fabric research. I work closely with our merchandisers in Hong Kong and communicate with them on a day-to-day basis, because of this I have an understanding on costings as well as strong fabric knowledge. I work closely with the Design Director to create ranges for our in-house collection Hoxton Projects. I have also been the lead in design for another in house brand Due Diligence, working on the brand from its infancy through until launch on ASOS last summer. As we are a small company I also assisted with the shoots and preparation for our own website and social media, and help to manage our Social Media Assistant who looks after our in-house brands.

I started University studying Womenswear. During my first year I was taught pattern cutting and sewing techniques, I also learnt draping techniques and QR cutting. At the start of my second year I decided to make the move to Menswear, our first project was an intense Tailoring project, and this taught me many skills such as creating a collar, fabric types and fibre knowledge, traditional tailoring methods etc. After this project was a textiles based project, where I learnt how to knit (both by hand and with a machine), how to print, dye fabric, and foiling. We then had a Magazine group project where I was the Editor, and with this I learnt InDesign. During my final year I produced a Menswear capsule collection based on a Nomadic tribe, the Nenets. We had few Menswear Basic Blocks and so I had to create my own Basic blocks to work from, I also produced two sketchbooks for my final year as Research was an integral part of understanding the Tribe.
