PR & Communications AssistantLondon, United Kingdom
About me
I am on a career change towards becoming a PR & Communications assistant, and I am looking to progress into the arts and culture industries in this capacity. For example, I would love to do the communications for the Whitechapel Gallery, or support the PR campaigns of the Tate, or even do digital communications for Camden Arts Centre, and since I have a keen interest in film , what if I had the chance to do the events management for BFI festival? A little introduction to my current work: I am volunteering part time as Front of House at the Camden Arts Centre for the Phoebe Collings-James 'A Scratch! A Scratch!', Adam Farah 'WHAT I’VE LEARNED FROM YOU AND MYSELF' and Zeinab Saleh 'Softest place (on earth)' Exhibitions. Previously, I assisted in the gallery for the Vivian Suter and Athanasios Argianas Exhibition, while working in an Operations/Risk role part time to pay the bills. Currently, for 1 week only this October I am volunteering at Sci Fi London 21 which is a film festival for sci fi and fantasy film makers and it's based in Stratford - come along! I am a huge sci fi and fantasy fiction film fan and would love a career in this capacity. During the summer, again, I volunteered with Greenwich + Docklands International Festival which is the biggest in street performing arts. I say agin because I volunteer for them every year as I love it. In the past I was Engagement Assistant preparing and distributing the marketing materials to engage with the public. This year I took on the role of Accessibility Assistant engaging with organisations for people with disabilities and distributing materials for accessibiity. What I am looking for: I wish to work in the arts and culture industry: this includes film production and promotion, art galleries, and cultural exhibition spaces. I would welcome any opportunities, especially if they involve cultural dynamics - I chose to work at Camden Arts due to working the Greek artist Athanasios, and would enjoy to work closely on more projects involving Greek and Cypriot artists. I am fluent in Greek (Write, Read, Speak) as I am Bilingual.
Projects
  • Art Curator
Art CuratorFizzfest is the new name for the Finsbury Arts Festival which happens ones a year every year and I am asked to be the Art Curator every year in June for this community arts event. I am the creative director of ARTspace which is the visual arts room of the festival which also includes music and other arts in other sections. I take part volunteering for the past 3 years and after our 3rd success this year I have been asked to be in charge of a monthly art exhibition at the St Luke's Community Centre. This is volunteering and I am looking to apply my skills further in paid projects in the future.
