About me
My name is Maria, I am 28 years old and I strongly believe that my educational and professional background would enable me to make a strong contribution in this position. I mention in my resume that I have a bachelor degree in Economics and an MA (Master of Arts) in Enterprise and Management for creative arts (University of Arts, London, 2009)
I believe that my penchant for this field stems from the fact that galleries, museums and cultural events are increasing all over the world, despite the global unstable political and economical situation. This fact proves to me the importance of cultural preservation and production. For me, culture and art, through museums, galleries and venues have the ability to reconcile sensations and feelings with knowledge and information, to raise emotion and awake conscience. Hopefully, through this process art contributes to intellectual cultivation, which -in my opinion- can be a very useful tool for the quality of life improvement. I perceive culture as a way of thinking that can affect many aspects of everyday life.
My thesis for my Master’s degree was related to the use of cultural events as a tool for city marketing and branding. After my research I was able to note that this is an effective tool for regeneration and renovation of cities. Finding now, in this economical situation, the way to organize culture events, hosting exhibitions in museums and galleries or organizing open festivals is the most challenging fact for every new curator.
I'm eager to learn new things, cooperate with others in such a creative environment and adjust innovative ideas and influences from UK which is a huge art core.
To further my career aspirations, I want to gain experience, exchange ideas and I'm mainly interested in obtaining skills regarding the practical part of the working process
