My name is Maria (Georigana) Sas, people call me Maria or Mariuca.
Born with the first bloom in the beautiful month of April on the 23rd of the month in 1994.
I received an International Education from the tender age of 3. Growing up between two worlds, in the post-communist capital city of Bucharest, Romania.
Starting my education in the arts in my early teens, from one of the greatest Romanian Artists and whom I could proudly have called my mentor; Matei Serban Sandu.
Prior to finishing High-School, my curiosity and enthusiasm led me to Intern at ELLE Magazine Romania.
In 2013 I started my post-graduate education at Istituto Marangoni Milano. In 2014 transferring in to the second year of women’s wear at ESMOD Paris; where I finalized my degree.
My involvement through those years consisted of being selected for the Jean Paul Gaultier Charity Competition, having my lace design pattern realized through the Albani Group sponsorship, backstage work during fashion week, styling model portfolios.
After graduating I worked for a year at Gruppo Vulpe Showroom in Copenhagen, Denmark. Where I worked as a brand manager for over 14 luxury ready-to-wear brands.
Working alongside Maria Lucia Hohan, two years prior my internship.
At Rhea Costa while being Head of Acquisitions, Stock Control and Sustainability Counselor for the secondary line (AMORHEA); with a prior experience in organizing data in Excel I was able to create essential data-bases for our textile stock and one for the producers, services and distributors we work with. Learning the importance of optimal ways to use keep our information accessible and readable through Google drive and communicating across departments through Trello; as for everybody to be up-to-date. Most of the above mentioned practices were implemented upon my arrival and fueled by my initiative through communicating with my superiors.
Returning to the design playground while briefly working for Bianca Popp, taught me that the business aspect remains a vital contributor to the way I work and what fuels design for me.
All of these insights into the different aspects of the industry enabled me to better understand the complex mechanisms that are essential in creation and delivery.
I truly believe that the fashion eco-system is ever-changing and in order to develop, to adapt - we must understand that we cannot use the same recipe. Sustainability and innovation in textiles is the future of our industry.
My mission is to work with like-minded people and to find solutions in the creative processes as well as adapt the business models accordingly.
The strong artistic sensitivity that I feel and am able to translate, alongside my varied skill sets can sculpt new conclusions in the realms of creative industries -with the help and collaborative effort of the compatible!
