Hi! My name is Mariaolga aka MO. I'm Guatemalan Multidisciplinary Designer with a Master’s Degree in Creative Strategies and New Technologies and a BA Degree in Graphic Design. With +10 years of experience, I have worked in the fields of web/mobile design, UI/UX, print, branding, illustration.
For the last 6 years, I’ve worked mostly as a UI designer for non profit organizations and venture firms investing in communities and technology. I use behavioral economics principles as a tool to connect with the user and understand how they make decisions.
Projects
- Global Genes/RARE PortalI was commissioned to redesign the website for RARE /Global Genes. Global Genes empowers patients, builds communities, and drives momentum for rare disease research globally. The new proposal revolves around the idea that diseases do not create victims. This was achieved through the use of images of happy patients living their disease as normal as possible.
- Feria de MálagaI participated in a contest where the task was to create a poster (cartel) for Malaga's Fair. I lived in Malaga so I'm familiar with the culture and the event itself. I portrayed all the common and most representatives scenes of the fair, like the food, the music, the clothing, etc. Didn't win (sad) but got lots of compliments on it. I like this project because I enjoy doing illustration work and that doesn't happen very often, or projects just don't have the timeline to accomplish that. Besides
