I am a London-based and London-born graphic designer and take inspiration from the exciting, if unconventional, route life has taken me down so far. For the past 6 years I've been a teacher, Secondary English and English as a Second Language, which has given me great insight into how we learn and how design can support learning and not hinder it. I have also worked extensively for an architectural charity, Article 25, which has given me a great respect for the built environment both at home and around the world. Studying Arabic and Middle East Politics as an undergraduate in Edinburgh has given me a love of Arabic calligraphy and Islamic art. I lived in Beirut for many years, studying the United Nations, teaching and learning Lebanese Arabic. I have recently returned to my sunny hometown, London, after living in Australia for a few years so I am also absolutely obsessed with the ocean and natural landscapes. I have just recently completed my postgraduate of Visual Communication at the London College of Communication. Find me on twitter at: @_mmomara
I have been working as an English teacher for the past 5 years. In most positions I have done much design work, time-permitting.
My Head Chef partner opened a restaurant while we lived in Australia and I created the website, branding, and all literature for the new establishment. The passion I experienced working on this project is what led me to pursue graphic design as a full-time career.
I was the Lead Designer on the Arabic and Middle East studies department 'Middle East Journal' and also created branding and literature for international conferences at the University.
