I am a highly-creative, motivated and skilled director and designer with a life-long passion for human movement, performance, and all forms of artistic expression. I collaborate frequently on projects and pride myself on my ability to both lead, assemble, and to participate in successful and happy teams.
I am disciplined and reliable and have gained a broad range of skills working internationally for over 10 years. I now have a successful track-record working in Japan, the USA, Spain and the United Kingdom in a broad range of multi-disciplinary creative projects. My work stems from a formal education in both fashion and costume design and has grown, in recent years, to include writing, directing, choreography, video-mapping and sound and visual editing - particularly for theatre, dance & movement, television and musical-theatre.
I left my home, near Osaka in Japan, aged 18, to study Fashion Design, and gained a BA from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Since then I have established a successful career and recently, decided to deepen my directing skills, by completing an MA in Performance Design & Practice at Central St. Martins. I grew up in a yoga Ashram. Through a life time study of yoga and dance, I also have a deep understanding of the human form and movement and still practice regularly.
Most recently I have written, cast and directed Little Girl Inside Me, a hopeful, and highly personal, exploration of trauma and recovery, derived from my experiences as a 10 year-old child in the Kobe Earthquake of 1995, using, dance, voice, video-mapping, music, sound and archive material. I am keen to develop this work, and to create and direct further original work.
