During the second of my two placements throughout my Master's, I was able to gain valuable insight into the workings of a national news outlet.
• Conducted interviews alongside background research and analysis to produce stories covering breaking news, lifestyle and live blogs.
• Implemented the CMS platform to design, build and preview each article. (Wordpress.)
• Delivered articles keeping both the brand voice and reader's perspective in mind.

This was a short term placement I took on during the December break from University. Throughout this time I benefited from the oppurtunity to work alongside and learn from a team hard working, dedicated journalists.
• Worked alongside the team on a fast-paced news desk to pursue and develop online stories.
• Used Escenic CMS to format news and features and publish them across various social channels. (Escenic, Tweetdeck.)
• Arranged and conducted interviews, both in person and over telephone, to supplement press releases and compile articles.

Played an instrumental role in developing and maintaining The Glasgow Gallus - an online news publication dedicated to sharing the voices and lived experiences of marginalised communities across Glasgow. This platform provided me with the opportunity to shed light on numerous pressing issues including fuel poverty and addiction. It also alllowed me to write features on the local music scene and the plight of smaller musicians.

Studying English and History at University level provided me with the opportunity to expand upon both the creative and analytical sides of my persona. Deconstructing and studying various forms of literature allowed me to expand my own thinking and greatly aided my creativity and writing skills. Meanwhile critically analysing historical sources and obtaining a firm grasp on the foundation of history has allowed me to better understand the society we now live in today. Studying both subjects in tandem has shaped how I research and interpret new information and helped me in my ability to source, refine and build upon existing material in order to form entirely new bodies of work.
