Skills for Biomedical Science :The course in brief, facilitated the development of key skills essential for successful Biomedical Science undergraduate study. These included effective scientinc communication in both written and oral formats, identifying, interpreting and utilising relevant scientinc literature. As well as developing quantitative skills, working in a team carrying out laboratory practical experiments safely and appropriately. The concepts of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and appropriate record keeping in the laboratory were reinforced by mini projects. Also, the introduction of bioinformatics unraveled the development of statistical analysis with enhanced utilisation of Microsoft Excel and accessing libraries of genomic and biomedical information such as the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). During the course, key skills acquired throughout has included increased independence, organisational and time management skills. Developed advanced technical skills to study and interpret raw data, increased awareness of ethical and health and safety issues which have helped me greatly to advance in research.
