I have been involved in small scale events for the last 8 years and have played a principle part in creating some great festivals and theatre shows. The most notable points so far have been: ? Setting up Rolling Sky Productions (www.rollingskyproductions.co.uk), in 2007 to produce Fringe based theatre shows on my own time and finance. ? My first festival 'That Thing in August' in 2012 spanned 30 days with 64 shows, and received 5 TimeOut recommendations. This became 'That Thing is Comedy' (www.thatthing.in), a comedy night which now runs venues in London. ? Produced an annual festival called 'ImprofestUK' (www.improfestuk.co.uk) which is now in its 4th year. Currently in the West End at Tristan Bates Theatre.
? Producing comedy events in Leicester Square, Islington, Kings Cross. ? Booking and negotiating with venues, acts, suppliers, and ticket vendors. ? Schedule and maintain websites and social media updates, also design and produce all promotion. ? Hosts the events as MC/Compere to warm up the audiences, introduce the acts, and control the event.
? Responding to customer enquires both via phone and email. ? Escorting potential tenants to properties, negotiating contracts between tenants and Landlords. ? Dealing with maintenance, repairs and queries from tenants and finding agreeable solutions. ? Organising the filing and storage system, assisting in designing new publicity to advertise the company better.
? Sourcing venues, negotiating copyright, insurance, licences, casting shows. ? Scheduling and running rehearsals, liaising with show designers and venue. ? Designing, sourcing, building all set and props while keeping to budgets and time restraints. ? Designing, producing and distributing all promotional material, while liaising with ticket sellers and monitoring online and in house sales.
? Meeting with incoming companies to discuss plans/requirements for each show/event ? Managing FOH/Bar staff, rotas, wages, training, creating a stock management and ordering system ? Running FOH including tickets sales, promotion, advertising, customer service. ? Maintaining all rooms and equipment at the venue, monitoring inventory and usage system correctly.
? Meeting people/companies to discuss and operate their shows/events/private hires. ? Operating shows as Stage Manager, including rigging and de-rigging equipment. ? Managing temporary box office including setting up and taking down. ? Managed incoming companies events/theatre hire. ? Monitored bar stock/FOH sales, cash and staff.
