If you are looking for someone with experience both in web technologies and television, I have many years experience at bridging the gap between linear and non-linear storytelling. Having started my career as a freelance designer and illustrator, i contracted for various companies, before becoming a full-time designer for one of the world's largest news companies; over my 6 years there I developed ways to assist web and TV journalists in storytelling - from data visualisations and infographics to daily illustrations and title sequences. I left my role as Senior Designer in 2012. Recently I have been working with a new film company producing programmes for BBC, Channel 5 and corporate clients as Head of Digital. I have been developing ways to make interactive documentaries and second screen experiences in modern web technologies - whilst providing detailed 3D models and overseeing animations for use in the TV documentaries they produce.

I spent my time at this film start-up creating an interactive documentary platform, whilst also creating 3d and 2d animations for numerous documentaries. Our clients included BBC and Channel 5 - plus corporates.
During my time at CNN.com International, my aim was to make online story telling visually appealing and more interactive, therefore more immersive. I had to very much be a digital all rounder, doing everything from daily news illustrations, to interactive flash animations and coding large scale data visualisations and infographics in the very fast paced news cycle. I also got my first professional introduction to animation for film/TV - using Cinema 4D and After effects to create video explainers for online use through to stings and title sequences for use on televison. My work across the many platforms and teams i worked with through the years has set me up with invaluable knowledge of how different areas of the media work - from my day to day work with the newsdesk; writers, editors and video team - to quality control with our in house development team, working with advertising and features to pitch ideas to new clients and working with TV producers, talent and editors to get the most out of any design/code work done across all platforms. I was part of the team to recieve an RTS award for our interactive twitter buzz app around the 2010 world cup - harvesting hundreds of thousands of tweets, and visualising them in real time.
