Graphic designer with 4 years’ experience specialising in typography focused design across print, large format and digital.
At ZSL I’m part of a small in-house team, which is responsible for the visual design of new animal exhibitions across London and Whipsnade Zoos. Recently I’ve contributed graphics to the flagship new lions exhibit and last year I developed the visual approach for London’s major new exhibit: In with the Spiders. I also provide design work for internal clients across the organisation and have been involved in publications, marketing campaigns, direct mail and event branding as well as a variety of print design projects. In 2015 ZSL underwent a major rebrand, and I had the opportunity to work with the consultancy to shape the new brand guidelines and implement them across the organisation. I was responsible for the design of several key pieces of collateral including new stationery, business cards and document templates.
As part of the Creative Solutions team, I designed and project-managed advertorials across a number of inflight magazines from sale to print. This involved working with clients and maintaining magazine style guidelines while ensuring customer satisfaction. I had the opportunity to design and art-direct a number of issues of Dossier, a 40?page business supplement in the United Airlines’ Hemispheres magazine. This involved refining and expanding the initial pitch design into a working template, designing features, sourcing photography and commissioning illustrations. I also created several pitch magazine concepts for Airline RFPs; creating magazine looks based on industry trends and client requirements as well as designing high?impact advertising solutions to be pitched to several blue-chip clients such as Philips, Nivea and MGM. Additionally, I created marketing collateral for the company including brochures, press ads, flyers and presentations and collaborated with the company’s tech team on UX and UI design for mobile apps.
During this internship I served as the only designer in the small project office. I was responsible for designing reports in line with previously established style guidelines and had the opportunity to design an issue of the Institution’s journal. As well as preparing these documents for print, I created collateral for the Institution’s website and worked on several other small projects.
This intensive design course emphasized practical studio skills presented within the context of design theory. It covered layout, publication design for both print and digital, advertising design, illustration and branding as well as design for the web.
As well as teaching the history and fundamentals of Graphic Design, this degree covered the principles of animation and their application across a variety of different media including hand-drawn, stop-motion and both 2D digital in Flash and 3D digital in Maya. In addition, I completed modules on web design, life drawing, video editing and compositing with After Effects.
