About me
I am a recent graduate from Central Saint Martin's MA in Industrial Design, and have been working as freelance designer in both Industrial and Graphic design. I have worked on furniture pieces, sculptural commissions, branding projects and illustrations. I also sculpt, having worked on historical building facades and portrait busts, and am currently experimenting with ways in which I can incorporate traditional sculptural techniques into furniture design. I have previously worked as a design researcher for Fablab Valletta, as well as a graphic and packaging designer before I shifted into industrial design.
Projects
  • Proxemic Bench
Proxemic BenchThis project was designed to define and examine the link between the theories of Proxemics and seating design. This was an attempt to reinterpret an anthropological theory into a design concept. The final piece has now become a permanent piece of the design faculty at the University of Malta.
  • Information pyramid
Information pyramidThis project was designed as a creative way to display a historical timetable. I wanted the challenge of creating a 3-dimensional piece instead of displaying the timeline across a flat surface. The piece can be displayed in three different ways; closed, opened and upright. It was created by experimenting with different paper designs serving as both a decorative and informative piece.
  • Illustrations
    Illustrations
  • Sculptural Works
Sculptural Works- Hand sculpted pieces in limestone for a historical building facade of The Imperial Home, in Sliema, Malta. - Individual Commission, bust portrait in clay. - Limestone sculpture for a trophy, which was then cast in bronze.
  • Light and Play
Light and PlayThe objective of this project was to attempt to understand play as a fundamental design element, and to then use that understanding in order to create a lighting piece that is engaging and playful. Each of the four rings is activated using a motion sensor, so simply moving one’s hand through the ring triggers the sensor, creating a specific ritual of use. The sensors, however, triggered unexpected responses, with different rings triggering different responses.
  • 6XTH Branding Project
6XTH Branding ProjectLogo and brand creation for a new furniture company, which uses scaffolding as the base of most of its pieces. Below are the logo, brand guidelines and one of a set of illustrations created for the brand to be used in brochures, instruction booklets etc. The illustration itself is based on creating a whole world out of scaffolding.
