Versatile media professional with a passion for bringing storyboard visions to fruition. Diverse experience in broadcast media, digital communications and event coordination. Specializes in public relations, community outreach initiatives and digital media production. Adept communicator, collaborator and Air Force veteran.
I have recently been awarded my masters degree in Global Media and Transnational Communications from Goldsmiths, University of London. A large portion of my studies was focused on understanding how the global media sector, through the evolution of the internet, has continued to affect and be affected by modern society. As we have seen over the past decade, digital communications continue to be the subject of debate, polarisation and disinformation. I plan to bring my knowledge and understanding of this predicament to my work with the aim to facilitate positive change and to be a part of the solution.
Throughout my professional and personal life, I’ve actively sought out and enabled a diverse range of creative initiatives. I enjoy the challenge of coordinating creative teams around a culturally empowered brief and find that I am in my element when devising how projects play out in a physical and digital space. The keys to the success of such initiatives have been effective collaborative communication as well as developing strong stakeholder relationships and digital partnerships. Together, these key elements work towards the main goal of making sure people come with you when producing timely content and that it reaches your audience in a format that optimises its resonance. I would take my personable approach to team communication, stakeholder management, and energy for partnerships, to any role or assignment I am tasked with.
One example of my work in this area was in 2019 when I was both the host and executive producer for Tonight LIVE with Yogi. For this production, I storyboarded, managed and directed a production team for the creation of a talk show platform that focused on the arts community in East Anglia. The production was filmed in front of a live studio audience and was a collaborative effort between my production team, the Media and Broadcasting Department at West Suffolk College in Bury St. Edmunds UK, along with regional venues, organisers and performers. I was responsible for securing the creative and community partnerships and focused the team around how the production would appear in a digital space. The show was well received by the community and in turn, aided in providing a pathway for West Suffolk College to establish their own regional arts focused broadcast station, Digital Saint TV.
In addition, in 2019, I successfully pitched the idea of a monthly podcast series to writer and licensed psychotherapist and development coach, Adrian Machon. Each episode provides conversations with industry leaders, tools and techniques for development coaches, and curated content of Adrian’s creation, in the form of evocative word, short stories, and meditations. While being at the helm of this project as producer and creative director, our initiative has manifested from a simple concept on paper to an evolving digital business model and service. With the goal of enabling digital versatility and distribution of said content to listeners and coaching professionals, we are also developing Adrian’s coaching techniques and creative content into a multimedia coaching programme, facilitated by a user experienced based website and app.
My time in the United States Air Force provided me with training and professional development that enriched my leadership, time management, and organisational skills. While serving as a Combat Support Technician my primary duties were to provide quality instruction and training on mission essential equipment and to inspect and maintain parachutes for special forces operators and aircrew personnel. Often my squadron would be tasked with a time sensitive mission or objective that would require ingenuity, flexibility and precision. My time in service has provided me with the opportunity to enhance these transferable skills and has enabled me to routinely apply them in my creative endeavors. In addition, my military background has allowed me to travel, learn and experience cultures from around the globe.
The experience and skills I have accumulated throughout my career and creative initiatives have made me versatile in my approach to any brief. It has made me acutely aware of the power of quality content and tailored communication in both reaching and engaging with the intended audience. With these qualities, I have confidence in my ability to be an effective ambassador, to develop the best quality content and to be an integral member of evolving creative strategies, initiatives and productions across the media landscape.
