About me

Hi, I’m Max. My strongest asset is my ideas. I can always be relied upon to think outside the box. I have a very wide skill base, having working in theatre, graphic design, food marketing, photography, fashion and at one point I was even a head chef. This makes me quite the one stop shop for most needs. I like to work holistically and I can use most media types/art forms to create any outcome. I’m looking to relocate from Newcastle to London, so I’m looking to work with exciting new brands that could benefit from a in-house one stop creative.

• My Mental Breakdown: A MusicalWritten and Directed by Max Kingdom. Produced by We are Kingdom. A groundbreaking new musical about men’s mental health, raising awareness for suicide prevention. It follows the story of Toby. A young man with hidden daemons.

I have been working as a director, producer and writers for my own theatre company, We are Kingdom. Our current project is, ‘My Mental Breakdown: a musical’. We were meant to start our national tour in May 2020, but have had to postpone due to covid -19. Previous versions is the show premiered in the north east were very well received and attracted further funding to tour.

I’ve put this as a separate role so I can expand a bit more on this area. I’m very keen on writing plays that tackle important social issues. I like to balance novel ideas, important messages and entertaining execution to create well rounded theatrical experiences. I’m a big believer in 5 sense theatre where the audiences really feels part of an experiences rather and a passive observer. My first full length production, ‘Grind on me’ was a farcical comedy about modern life gay dating. My current project is ‘My Mental breakdown: a musical’. Which was compared to blood brothers and rent by the British theatre guide and is due to go on a national tour as soon as we can recover from the covid crisis. Future projects include a large scale puppet show called Angel, which looking at cycles of abuse told from the perspective of a neglected child and the Angel of the North, and Mainly Manly Men, a one man Cabernet/drag show about the role of masculinity in today’s society.
