London Fashion week AssasintHouse of Ikons
- London, United KingdomFreelance
During London Fashion Week, I had the opportunity to work with House of Ikons over two exciting, fast-paced days. On the first day, my responsibilities included preparing the designers’ collections, which involved steaming clothes to ensure they looked flawless on the runway. I also assisted the designers with fittings, helping to make sure each garment fit perfectly on the models. It was crucial that every detail was attended to, so I double-checked that everything was in place for the show. This experience gave me insight into the behind-the-scenes work required to bring a designer’s vision to life and taught me the importance of precision and organization.
The second day was even more intense as I took on a critical role in the dressing room, managing quick changes for the models. With limited time between looks, I had to stay focused and move swiftly, helping each model change outfits and keeping track of what came next. My main goal was to ensure that everything ran smoothly, so I kept an eye on the order and worked closely with other team members to coordinate each model’s lineup. This hands-on experience gave me a glimpse into the energy and coordination required for a successful show, and it reinforced my passion for the fast-paced environment of fashion events.

BTEC Level 3 Art and Design Diploma - Fashion DesignBarnet and Southgate College
Barnet, United Kingdom
In the coming months, I will be completing my BTEC Level 3 Fashion Design diploma and am expected to finish with a distinction. Throughout the course, I have developed both my creative insight and technical abilities, gaining essential skills that are key to the fashion industry. Through design development, I learned how to take initial concepts and refine them, using feedback to experiment with materials, colors, and fabrics to achieve a cohesive look. My coursework has also introduced me to fashion illustration, allowing me to visually communicate my ideas and envision entire collections. These creative experiences have given me a strong foundation for understanding the artistic side of fashion design.
Alongside creative skills, I have gained hands-on technical experience that is crucial for garment construction. I learned how to use a sewing machine, which has allowed me to assemble garments from scratch and understand the importance of precision in stitching. Pattern cutting has taught me how to translate design ideas into physical forms, ensuring a perfect fit and structure. Garment making, from putting fabric pieces together to finishing techniques, has given me insight into the craftsmanship required in fashion. Altogether, these skills have equipped me with a well-rounded understanding of fashion design, preparing me for future opportunities in the industry.
