About me
Hi, I'm Maya! I am a versatile artist, illustrator and graphic designer. I have always had a passion for visual arts and a desire to channel this into something meaningful. I believe that there is great value in the ability to communicate ideas visually through image and text. I am fascinated by mixed-media art, in particular the combination of collage and painting techniques used together, and using art as a platform for promoting and raising awareness about social and political issues. I have an aptitude for developing unique concepts and thinking outside of the box. I also enjoy the process of generating ideas in conversation with clients. My previous experience is mostly as a freelance artist/graphic designer. From this, I have developed excellent organisational skills – I am able to meet deadlines and prioritise and work on multiple briefs at once. I have also self-taught a lot of my skillset and I am able to learn and pick things up quickly. I have experience using both digital software and traditional mediums. I am confident with Adobe Suite – I am proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, and have a basic understanding of Premier Pro, After Effects and Animate. Please check out my Instagram (@mayasako_) or DM me for my full portfolio!
Projects
  • Collective Elements
Collective ElementsI created two logos and mock-up for an event poster for Collective Elements (a creative collective focused on music events). For the first logo, I used Adobe Illustrator to create a row of triangles that represent the four elements (water, air, earth and fire). For the second logo, I placed the letters within a square to mimic an element as it would appear on the periodic table. For the poster, I used Adobe Illustrator to create a set of stairs with doors to represent the theme of the event (whi
  • Poster Design for Dial Tone
Poster Design for Dial ToneI designed and created an event poster using Adobe Photoshop for Dial Tone (a creative collective focused on music). The event was called "No Signal". I wanted the poster to reflect their brand aesthetic – retro/old-school yet futuristic – so I used a mix of traditional collaging methods in conjunction with digital techniques. I think my own art style also shone through in this poster.
  • Artificial Intelligence & English Law Logo Design
Artificial Intelligence & English Law Logo DesignI designed this Logo for The University of Oxford's Artificial Intelligence and English Law project. For brand consistency and clarity, I used the Oxford blue (and white) in keeping with the University's principal logo. Similarly, I kept the logo square so that they would appear uniform when presented alongside one another. For the image, I used motherboard circuit connections to depict a figure holding the scales of justice.
