Melissa is a 29-year-old writer, originally from Northern Ireland. Her main area of interest is historical fiction, where she often digs into childhood memories, comedic family dynamics, and true to life dialogue, all grown from a small-town upbringing which continuously inspires her work. Melissa also holds a First Class MA in Writing from Liverpool John Moores University. Previously, she has been published with the University of Oxford’s “Oxford Scientist” and with Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse Theatres “Love Liverpool”. After winning WOW’s Pulp Idol 2021, Melissa is currently working towards her first novel, “Cabbage Babies”, and plans to complete it this year.

Pulp Idol - WinnerWriting on the Wall
Melissa's first draft of her debut novel, 'Cabbage Babies', will now be read by a host of agents and publishers working in collaboration with Writing on the Wall, aka ‘WoW’.
The first chapter of the book will also be included in WowFest's book of 'Firsts', set to publish this year. It will also be available as an eBook on all major online outlets, with a copy sent out to agents and publishers across the country.
