About me

As a recent graduate from Birmingham City University with a BA(Hons) in Theatre, Performance and Event Design, I specialises in performance design and love working in a collaborative atmosphere. In the future, I dream of starting a theatre company with other creative individuals as the head designer. However, I am very interested in freelance work and I'm keen to meet and work with other creative people.

• Colour in GreyWorking in collaboration with Film and Animation students during my 2nd year at university, we were challenged to create a music video for track, "Sevastapol", by Moby. I worked in a team of 12 as a member of the art department and performed as the main character onscreen.
• Leviathan at Be FestivalLeviathan was part of BE Festival, Birmingham 2016, in partnership with Birmingham Rep. I worked alongside others for 2 weeks under Spanish artist, An Wei. ​ "Melissa O'reilly has been my personal assistant at "Leviathan", an urban installation project at Centenary Square in Birmigham, UK. She has always been a pleasure to work with for two weeks at her best. Her adaptation to the problems was excellent, she knew how to act in each moment. I had the opportunity to know her project about light and space, (Prism) and I think it is very interesting and it approaches the subject in a new way." - An Wei Lu Li (Translated from Spanish)
• PRISMBeginning my final year at university, I developed and tested a concept for an multi-use individual experience space. PRISM is a tall, pod shaped space made up of mirrors and clear perspex. The effects created by the shape and materials create a feeling of security and confinement, as well as freedom and illusion. PRISM uses light and sound to create an environment, altered by the outside world and the customisable nature of the soundscapes, created specifically for this project..

Assistant to Spanish artist, An Wei Lu Li during his time at Be Festival and one of painters working on his piece, "Leviathan". Duties included: Communicating with members of The Birmingham Rep on behalf of An, mixing paint, transporting equipment and street painting over 2 weeks, 7 days a week.
