About me
I am a Textile Designer based between London and Ireland. I created FOUND THREAD in 2019, selling silk scarves all designed by me. My collections take inspiration from the witticisms of nature. The scarves are playful with pattern, bordering on the surreal. I studied textile design at Chelsea College of Arts, and previously History of Art at Trinity College Dublin. I have worked in fashion and textile studios, art galleries, auction houses, in set design and art direction. Currently I am open for work and collaborations.
Projects
  • Collection II
Collection IICollection II explores floating forms - uncovered and free. It is about duality and transience, where bodies are mirrored, umbrellas act as lily pads and elements collide. The collection was originally inspired by an old Japanese kimono book, and the misreading of the historical Geisha - Gei (art) Sha (person). It developed into a celebration of the female form, theatrical prints and transient waters & skies.
  • Arcadia Falling
Arcadia FallingFound Thread's first collection Arcadia Falling stems from the crumbling memories of an Arcadian dream. Arcadia Falling includes neckerchiefs with quirky natural motifs, luxurious long silk tassel scarves and earrings made from reclaimed chandelier crystals. Textile prints originate from Mia’s unique drawings, paintings and collages; and the earrings, named after a collection of tears, are crystal drops held by golden hands.
