Hello,
My name is Mia Powell, I am currently a freelance illustrator working in Birmingham, U.K. I have recently graduated Birmingham City University with a first class honours in Visual Communication Illustration. When it comes to Children Illustration I like to design cards, children's books print design and animation. I have been very successful during my time at university I was one of the winners of the D&AD competition in collaboration with The Beano where I re-designed a character 'Secret Agent Sally' I have also won competition ran by MoonPig from my card range Sci-Fi for boys and girls, where I have been rewarded with a placement to work within their design department. Seemingly my designs are cute fun and quirky and can be applied to a range of different children's products!
During my studies I have been fortunate enough to establish myself as a freelance designer in the publishing industry with clients such as Penguin Random House, The Bookseller and CreateinBrum. I have had particular success with Penguin Random house as I have designed the promotional work for a variety of their books, these have been used across their social media, website, magazines and book marks.
All in all I love to draw and design! If you have taken an interest in my work please feel free to contact me.

MoonPig ran a competition with Birmingham City University across both illustration and graphics to design a range of cards. I was very successful and was selected as the winner for the competition with a range I designed 'Sci Fi' for boys and girls. This was a gender neutral range that involved space characters and dinosaurs that would appeal to both boys and girls. Following this I was awarded with a weeks placement with moonpig in their design department where I have developed my original range of cards and a Valentines range to be used by Moonpig.
