About me
Recently featured on Entrepreneur.com, Michael Nova has developed a proven track record of overseeing multiple businesses & creative projects simultaneously, both as a creative artist and entrepreneur. As president of Nova Music Productions, Inc., Michael was featured in The New York Times as a pioneer in offering multiple services to independent artists in the music industry. Several years later, Michael then created Nova Disc and Nova Custom Printing, divisions of the corporation that would focus on offering business-to-business services. Over the years, Nova's clients grew to include NASA, Google, L’Oreal, Calvin Klein, American Express, The U.S. Government and thousands more. Because the business was doing well, Michael found a calling to give back to the community. He co-founded Metrofly, a non-profit organization that hosted fundraising events for charity. Then, with the intention of also making a difference through his work, Michael independently funded and created the music and film multimedia project, X: The Human Condition with his music group, X: THC. During production, Michael lost his eyesight due to illness, but manifested a miraculous recovery, inspiring people around the world with his story. The project has received rave reviews globally, from Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia to North & South America. To date, the majority of all proceeds have been donated to charity. Continuing the journey, Michael has now founded RiseUpEight.org as the next level in this exploration of the human condition, featuring interviews with people worldwide overcoming adversity and succeeding in life. A new album and a documentary film will be released later this year, which chronicles the entire project.

More than just a music group, X: THC has a proven track record of making a difference in the world, not only with their music, but with their message…"Fall Down Seven Times, Rise Up Eight." In September 2016, the music group X: THC launched the website, Rise Up Eight to interview people worldwide about how they have overcome adversity in life, in order to inspire others to do the same. But how the website came into existence proves that truth really is stranger than fiction. X: THC's Chris (Ninjaboy) Liang spent his childhood sojourning from London to Hong Kong, and from Singapore to the remote regions of Borneo, becoming a martial arts practitioner of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do under the tutelage of masters authorized by Lee himself. Continuing his sojourn to New York City and applying the wisdom gained from those martial arts to his music, he created award-winning mixes for both film and television, mixing promos for HBO’s The Sopranos and hundreds of spots for Syfy, HBO, USA, and Spike, as well as long-form programming for Travel Channel, HGTV, Food Network and Discovery. In New York City, Liang met someone who took another road less traveled—X: THC's Michael Nova. Exemplifying a true “come back story” after recovering from serious illness and the brink of blindness, artist and entrepreneur Michael Nova has been called an “existential explorer.” A powerful performer, composer, filmmaker and producer as well as president of Nova Music Productions, Inc., Nova was featured in The New York Times as a pioneer in offering multiple services to independent artists in the music industry. Creating the band name X: THC as the acronym for X: The Human Condition, Nova, with Liang's co-production, released the innovative multimedia music and film project X: The Human Condition in 2010 with a D.I.Y. (“Do It Yourself”) aesthetic that persevered after over a decade of, at times, seemingly insurmountable challenges. X: The Human Condition‘s allegorical film and music intertwined to tell a story created to help inspire people through challenges in life, but little did its creator know what challenges he would soon face in his own life… During pre-production, when presented to entertainment industry experts, X: The Human Condition was labeled "impossible" to achieve. However, Nova proved the experts wrong, working for 12 years self-funding, producing and finally completing the challenging project on a shoestring budget with the help of hundreds of actors, musicians and crew, who volunteered or cut their rates to be a part of the project because of its positive message. During production, Nova lost his eyesight due to the debilitating effects of Iritis and Pigment Dispersion Syndrome and was stricken with Chronic Kidney Disease. His recovery prognosis was doubtful, yet he unexpectedly fought off all health challenges, including completely reversing the effects of Kidney Disease through alternative medicine (proving the experts wrong yet again). The project that was created to inspire people to overcome challenges in life was strangely mirrored in the real life story of Nova surmounting his own personal challenges. Walking a tightrope between electronic pop music and avant-garde performance art, X: THC performed live with the 40-minute narrative film projected behind the band. The music and stellar acting performances supplied the film’s stirring story line rather than dialogue. More than just eye candy, the film struck an emotional chord with audiences. Its imaginative and fantastical settings showcased the inspiring, allegorical story of two individuals searching for human connection in their increasingly cold, technologically-driven lives. Synthesizing music, film, and an unforgettable live experience, Nova and Liang evolved and redefined how a live show is presented and experienced within the model of the music industry. A tribute to the strength of the human spirit in and of itself, X: The Human Condition has made a real difference by donating all profits to charity and inspiring people all over the world to overcome obstacles in life. To date, the “little indie project that could” has received rave reviews globally, from as far as Australia, Greece, Portugal, Turkey, Italy, Argentina, Germany, Columbia, The Virgin Islands, Mexico, Poland, Brazil, Albania, Russia, Hungary, Latvia, The UK, Peru, and Japan. And with the idea that if one inspiring story could help people believe that anything is possible, what could hundreds of stories do? And so the website Rise Up Eight was created, to interview people from all over the world who have achieved the "impossible", overcoming adversity. This story continues in Winter 2017 when Hypnotical Entertainment will release X: THC’s long awaited follow up album to help promote the mission of Rise Up Eight. The new album pays homage to New Wave, BlueEyed Soul, Post-Punk and Electronica while adding X: THC’s own seductive, hypnotic flavor. The release will be preceded by a special online release of X: The Human Condition in a series of ten music video webisode chapters.
