About me

I’m Michela Vianelli, an Italian designer based in London. I have a 1st class level degree in Fashion Design at NABA Milan and I am about to get my Master's Degree at Central Saint Martins, London, studying Material Futures. My main interest is fashion sustainability and, in particular, I'm working on materials and textiles to find future sustainable solutions.

Air Jordan 1 BioDeGradUsing Italian Orange waste to create a biodegradable Jordan Shoe
Styling Project - ChloèStyling project at NABA. The final purpose was to deliver a shooting for the brand assigned (Chloè) using clothes that we had in our wardrobes/could be easily found without the need to be from the brand.
Al Mio Popolo Alla Mia Terra - Sustainable MaterialFirst project at CSM MAMF course. Starting from the island that lays at the center of my hometown's lake, Monteisola (literally mount island) and its net-weaving tradition, I researched alternative materials to replace nylon and avoid further polluting our lake. My final material is based on olive waste easily found on the island as the population is also after oil production and is totally biodegradable and sustainable. It is very resistant and can be used for the net-making purpose.
Visceral Beauty - Handmade AccessoriesDuring NABA course Handmade Accessory with Prof. Francesco Ballestrazzi, I developed my first accessories collection using alternative materials and experimenting with new techniques. Starting from WGSN trend boards I developed a moodboard and color scheme based on inner beauty, blood, and bones to end up with a four-piece collection. I made a thermo-shaped material mask dyed with a special technique I experimented on bags as well, recycling old nail polish; a series of two eco-leather bags and
White War - Project MethodologyDuring the Project Methodology course at NABA followed by Prof. Alessandro Manzi, we were asked to develop a final piece after been given four random words to work on. With different inputs, we were asked to take every hint and help from any inspiration that could come from the various activities done during the semester. My final project is a first attempt to experiment with materials as I used colored silicone to imitate turtle's scales.
Marco Mengoni - Atlantico FestTo present its new album, Atlantico, the Italian singer Marco Mengoni chose a group of students from three art universities of Milan to produce artisanal pieces for a charity auction. I decided to be inspired by his new songs' words and tattooed an exo-leather bag with a dinosaur.
