About me
My name is Michelle Okuneye, I’m a professional hairstylist and hair creative director based in London UK.
I’m all about all things fashion, beauty and creativity , I believe to look good is to feel good. I love the power fashion and self care can play when it comes to feeling confident - fashion & beauty for me are the major tools I use to express myself. I am a very talented multifaceted hairstylist, I specialise in both Afro and European hair textures. I’m always opened to trying something new and looking for ways to grow in my craft. I’ve been working in this field for over 10 years so I know the does and don’t. As I’m also talented in other creative fields, I’ll always be an asset to your team. I also enjoy creative directing as I have an eye to detail and I’m very creative, what my mind comes up with is sometimes Above me. As the fashionista I am also able to style creatives to what suits their aesthetics. Working behind the camera is amazing, but so is working In front of it, fashion is one of the ways I express myself, So I love every chance to be something amazing and show it off. I honestly love working in the fashion & creative industry it gives me the chance to be myself and flourish
Projects
- The Hair HA(r)TSo I decided to try something different with this look, I wanted to incorporate traditional Yoruba hairstyles with a more youthful and playful feel. I got some colourful yarns, a hot glue gun and a wig cap and let my creative juices flowww. I was frustrated at some point because it was taking so long to do and I just wanted to give up but I knew that this piece would put together my whole concept of the hair art.
- Kwaku Asante-Angel music videoMy first hair work for a music video! Excited to debut into the visual art world with my hair work. I’ve been doing hair for nearly 10years now and I’m very excited for this new transition into spaces I believe will give me more freedom to create freely and uniquely. Shoutout to the talented @la_xre for the opportunity. Lovely working with a team with such great vibes!! @kwakuxasante Angel✨ Out now!! Director/s - @kemianna_ & @la_xre DOP - @tasha_duursma 1st AC/Focus Puller - @emmyland 2nd
- My birthday shootSo I decided do a conceptual shoot for my birthday. This shoot really means so much to me, if anything almost like a door as I step more into my authentic self- tapping into my talents and potentials with confidence. I think a lot of times we tend to hold back from making moves because we’re in our heads a lot, questioning and procrastinating. I did for so long. I’m so excited for this turning point and this part of my journey, like the cowries in my hair I will be tapping more into my spiritual
