About me
Born in Tokyo and raised in Manchester (UK), Misha is currently based in London. Her multi-disciplinary practise deals with existing social, economic and political systems that dominate our current cultural climate and challenges them using speculative and future-oriented design. Often laced with a tone of absurdity, her work exposes the idiosyncrasies of a world dominated by gruelling neoliberal work culture, online hyper-representation and the commodification of the self. She has recently exhibited at Madrid Digital Arts Festival and London Design Festival, been published in Nowadays Journal and featured in Bricks magazine. She is currently working as a digital artworker for artist Weirdcore and digital art gallery Daata.

  • PumpUp!© (2022)
PumpUp!© (2022)‘PumpUp’ is an absurdist short film that speculates on a future financed by PumpCoins. Set in 2140 London, all traditional forms of currency have been phased out, crypto dominates the financial sector. The only way to “mine” such coins is by playing alluring play-to-earn arcade games, from the comfort of their own homes. Exploring themes of worker autonomy, be-your-own-boss culture and the ‘bullshit jobs’ phenomenon, the film follows the working days of James and Adrian, exposing the mechanisms
  • Love in a Sailor Suit
Love in a Sailor SuitA surrealist, digital series of two agents of late-capitalism; a pair of wide-eyed, hyper-slick anime dolls. They are a manifestation of our over-commodified, over-performative economy, where cuteness is often used to soften our connection with products of capital (ie. with the use of cuddly meerkats to advertise insurance comparison websites). The series consists of the two agents in a range of 21st century scenarios.
  • Neoregelia, vol. 2
Neoregelia, vol. 2Neoregelia is a Unity based interactive game where the aim is to cultivate flowers and learn about plant species within an eco-system 100 years into the future. Serial communication between an Arduino Leonardo Microcontroller and Unity enables users to use a modified joystick to navigate around the world, and to complete tasks such as watering plants (pressure sensor pad) and collect plant passports. Exhibited at 'Material Futures' show, London Design Festival, Kings Cross (2021).
