As Gallery Manager of Eye Like, it’s vital that I ensure a smooth day-to-day running of the gallery, and I’m accustomed to overlooking and maintaining a variety of roles within the company. These wide-ranging responsibilities include: - Sales By acting as front of house on a daily basis, I’m accustomed to negotiating sales within the gallery, but also via the telephone and through email. I also maintain our website’s online store and our Ebay store in order to reach our target clients that aren’t within physical visiting distance. - Social Media Since the gallery opened in June 2014, I’ve been in charge of producing informative and engaging weekly newsletters, and updating our blog, to sustain and develop existing and future clients’ interest in the gallery and the artwork. This awareness is reinforced by the role of keeping our Twitter, Facebook, and most recently, Instagram feeds up to date. - Marketing By contacting various print media forms for advertising, alongside the use of social media and newsletters, I promote upcoming work and shows as well as overall awareness of the gallery. I also help to design our window display, using this as a marketing technique before national holidays and events. - Curating I work closely with our artists to ensure my knowledge of their work is up to date, and these strong relationships contribute to our acquisition of sought after artworks. I also work in partnership with the directors dealing with the assessment and selection of new work, making sure that the latest pieces we acquire are on trend and in keeping with the gallery motto. - Customer Service I deliver excellent service by going above and beyond what is required, for instance by offering bespoke home visits to potential and existing clients. I also strive to develop client relationships by notifying them of specific artworks and gallery shows based upon their previous preferences. - Administration/Logistics I manage the general administration of the gallery, for example with budgeting and the accounts. This administration also includes the logistics division of the company, by keeping track of incoming and outgoing orders, and ensuring safe deliveries whether they are national or international.
