About me
Molly Gibson is a print designer inspired by contemporary culture and historical references. Her projects are founded on a base of research forming fully realised concepts that push the boundaries of current trends. Exploration of current high-end fashion shows, art galleries and the media allow her to create modern designs that appeal to consumers. She is aware of the negative impacts the textile industry has had upon the planet and its inhabitants and tries to adopt a more sustainable and ethical practice as a result. When Molly begins a brief, she drawings from life and photography, using paint, collage and ink for a strong graphic image and a hand-curated aesthetic. Her drawings are then manipulated within Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to experiment with scale, colour and repeat resulting in a refined outcome. She has a good knowledge of hand and digital printing processes and demonstrates this within her work. Molly has worked on multiple live briefs, group projects and competitions during her studies providing her valuable feedback, collaborative skills and experience working to a brief. Molly is keen to gain further experience within a fashion or greetings design company and continue to create modern and trendy designs.
Projects
- Meadow PicnicMy graduate collection is a womenswear collection for young adults aged 18 to 30. The project aims to promote rural escapism and joy through bright colours, picnic imagery and wildflowers. All designs were painted by hand and then translated into illustrator to refine composition and colour palette.
