My name is Molly May Taylor and I am a freelance stylist from the creatively thriving inner north of Melbourne, who is now based in London.
I have worked in the industry in an assistant capacity for many years, and been granted the opportunity to work and be mentored by some of Melbourne’s greatest stylists, as well as working closely with agencies such as Viviens Creatives, Reload Agency, and studio’s such as WOW Pictures.
I have a varied set of skills and experience, working behind the scenes on set for fashion publications such as Fashion Journal, E-commerce across most Just Group Brands (Just Jeans, Jay Jay’s, Dotti, Portmans, Peter Alexander), Product Styling, Prop Styling (La Roche Posay) and Corporate Styling.
I am detail oriented and independently minded although still thrive in a collaborative and team work based environment. Fast paced work spaces stimulate me, as well as the challenge to maintain creative integrity whilst doing so.
My experience covers editorial, commercial, E-comm and TVC location sets. Set sourcing, working with talent as well as product via mannequin, accessories shots, and flat lay.
I believe myself to be an asset to any set, with strong communication skills, a commitment to hitting shot targets, and a sociable personality, proven via the calibre of people I have as work references.

Melbourne, AustraliaFreelance
As of last year, I struck out on my own as well as assisting in Melbourne, styling E-comm for Just Jeans, content for Unreal Fur, Jay Jays, and La Roche Posay via agencies Viviens Creative's and Reload. I also began test shooting prolifically, working with a wide range of talented photographers in Melbourne (Kamilo Mateus, Caroline Sada, Kamilla Musland to name a few) and will have new work published in Creators Magazine June SUMMER | Vol 2. | Issue 10.
Building relationships with PR agencies, stores and independent designers has been crucial to this role, as has maintaining the identity of the brand throughout shoot concepts while also bringing my own creative flare to the table. Sourcing props, clothes, and backgrounds within the budget allowance is another large part of the job, as well as nailing the clients brief, and returning the items in pristine condition.
On set roles include fitting the models, prepping the rack, using pins, bulldog clips, lint rollers, tape etc to ensure that the garment looks perfect in stills. As well as paying attention to image detail, and fixing any errors quickly and efficiently, communicating with the client, photographer and HMUA to achieve the highest quality image possible and hit daily shot targets.
Another aspect of my work is also the ability to comprehend mood boards and be able to execute the concept to the best of my ability, other key skills of note are strong communication skills, excellent organisational skills, and outstanding problem-solving skills.

Assistant StylistKim Ellmer

I worked for Kim as an assistant on TVC's as well as corporate shoots, my role on corporate sets would be to press, and steam garments, set up and pack down the styling area, organise the correct sizes and styles for each talent as we would usually shoot multiple people at once, and keep Kim abreast of the run order throughout the day. On TVC's I would have to man the styling rack for the day, change talent, tape and polish shoes, step in for Kim if we were prepping in different locations and style. As well as prepping clothes and bumping in and out.

As I realised early on in my youth that I wanted to be in the styling profession, I completed my high school education and immediately took to volunteering at runway shows BOH and working my way up in the industry rather then a formal university education. I did partake in a short course in 2014 titled Runway Production, which left me with a comprehensive understanding as to how shows are run and produced. Other then that, I have chosen the more traditional path of learning in the field, and have been fortunate enough to have been mentored by some of Melbourne's finest Stylists, each one imbuing me with various new skills and creative perspectives, which I believe to be a priceless commodity in the industry.
