About me
Final year History student at the University of Manchester and currently writing my dissertation on ‘Performance Arts in Soviet Russia from 1917 to the Second World War’. Whilst at university my interest in social and cultural history has led me to explore the link between history and the arts. My experience in museums and art galleries has developed my passion for sharing the importance of the arts and am now pursuing a career in the arts, heritage and culture sector.

Event Assistant

As an Events Volunteer at the Whitworth art gallery it is my job to support the production of events from the planning to the delivery. At each event my specific role differs however it largely entails communicating with staff and visitors to ensure the smooth running of the event. Primarily the role requires me to supply visitors with information of the event and stewarding in and around the art gallery. Aiding Workshop Practitioners is also crucial to ensure they have the right resources to conduct their session or performance. Lastly, I provide assistance to the weekly event Thursday Lates which invites a range of artists to share, perform or screen their work in a relaxed, social environment

I currently volunteer at Manchester Museum once a week in the Study. This new space was designed to provide an innovative and high quality research and learning environment to visitors. As a volunteer my role is to welcome visitors and explain the concept of the space. Encouraging visitors to browse, contemplate and conduct independent research using our facilities in each area of the Study is also vital to my role. Interaction with visitors over the Study's social media outlets such as Twitter and Instagram is also required to promote events and advertise the space. Another aspect of my role is to run the 'Everyday Scientist' programme which aims to digitise collections. Furthermore I have undergone object handling training which has enabled me to invite visitors to see artefacts outside the museum's cabinets.
