Murat Gökmen is an award winning London-based Director working in documentary, commercial/branded, music video and narrative. In recent years he's made films for The New York Times, Nowness, Vice, Red Bull TV, Condé Nast, Lloyds Bank, Crisis UK, Google, Audi, La Liga, Meta, Polestar, ITV and Channel 4.
Murat's been shortlisted for a One World Media Award for his short documentary about the fishermen of Gaza, Sayadeen, and as a Producer he was part of the team that won an Emmy for The New York Times documentary, The Forger. His first narrative short as Writer/Director, Talk To Leon, premiered at Flickers Rhode Island Film Festival and went to on to be screened at festivals around the world including the London Short Film Festival. Talk To Leon’s festival run ended at the Shortie Film Festival in New York where he won Best Director.
Aside from ongoing commercial projects, Murat is currently in development for his second short film, Sultangazi, set in Istanbul and Arzu, a feature set in London.
