About me
Hey there! My name ( as I am guessing you probably already know) is Myriam and I hold a British and expired Algerian and French passport. Now I add this at the beginning of my introduction plainly because of the fact that my nationality is often confused for my identity. Having grown up in the United Arab Emirates after being born in France, I have found that placing emphasis on where I came from became central to defining myself, the insides, and the outsides. With that being said, writing an about me had become challenging up to this point. Do I include my heritage in a statement about myself, do I not? Does it define my interests and passions, what environments I thrive in, and what I yearn for? If you have read this far along, I thank you for doing so as time really is precious and not worth wasting on empty thoughts of longing from the side table of multi-ethnic privilege. As an Artist, I find beauty in challenging conversations being had, a sort of fullness that one gets when they have eaten their favorite meal twice over ( and could go for thirds). My interests as a child were in the glamor of the stage; the international stage where all knew your name and where you were the commodity to be consumed, and the more tangible stage within a grand hall, one to be danced on ( By which you were still a commodity to be consumed, but by terms you could control more rigidly). As I grew older I came to fall in love with the bodies behind the stage. The minds that created the puzzle and made sure each piece fit together, The limbs that wrote the words of great wisdom belted out by the actors on such stage. Those who filled the vessels at the right time so that the water could be consumed by the masses, this is who I wanted to become. In so many words I decided that Art Direction and Curatorial practices were in all sense of the word my passion. Having had the opportunity to host and curate three Popup Performance Art Exhibitions over the last two years gave me an insight into the life that I want for myself. Creative, fast-paced, communal are three words that I choose to describe this life. Now how does this part of my conversation relate to how I began? My aspirations in life were guided by my multicultural and multiethnic background. Being able to experience the cultural exchanges within my own household ignited my desire to create similar experiences on a larger scale through communal events and productions. After all, The cultural exchange my parents experienced only made my sister and I inquisitive and creative beings. You could say I may want that experience for others, one where conversations are sparked and creativity explodes all over the place, and I would like to play a part in aiding in that experience.

The Heat of a Summers DayWhen asked to describe my upbringing in the United Arab Emirates, I am pulled in different directions as to how to answer such a question. I have often found myself unable to pick one route of interpretation to explain, turning to photography and image manipulation to contextualize my experiences of growing up in the United Arab Emirates. The UAEs presence on multiple global platforms over the past decade has flourished, reshaping my experiences with the rapid changes that this also brought a

We push readers to leave their comfort zones, to go beyond what they know, to be culturally curious and compassionate. We accept all forms of writing, visual art, and digital media that expand our own understanding of intersectional and cosmopolitan discourse. Postscript was e
