"Friction: a tactile interaction study as metaphor for navigation in fictional reading"
The ubiquity of mobile devices has been reconfiguring the reading experience. Similarly, uninterrupted connectivity causes erratic and fleeting states of attention. Reading becomes a hyperstimulated and shallow activity. Consequently reading literary fiction loses its centrality as a recreational activity. In this sense, 'Friction' is a study that aims to understand if reading literary texts on mobile devices remains immersive when we relate interaction to the structural qualities of narrative.
