Style has been a pivotal aspect in the choices I have made in life that have defined me as a person. At the forefront of all that I do, style has dictated where I have lived, learned and loved.
Having resided in London, UK for the last 2 years and Brussels, Belgium, for the 5 consecutive years prior to that, I have seized the opportunities that have presented and continue to present themselves internationally throughout Europe and America, specifically in the fashion and music industry.
I possess a valuable and fine balance between lateral thinking and out-of-the-box creativity and project management. Coupled with boundless energy and relentless tenacity in the pursuit of perfection, I am a confident, innovative stylist with an eye for unique imagery and a proficient outlook on past and present trends notwithstanding an innate ability to forecast and act imaginatively and originally.
As travel is a major defining point in being able to do what it is I am most passionate about, I feel it best to break my experiences into the cities I frequent and lust over the most.
London
In March 2015 I started working at Net-A-Porter as a junior online stylist where I have worked for almost 2 years. I gained invaluable experience and knowledge into the world of styling from a e-com and luxury global retail online business perspective. This experience gave me insight into styling that focuses on detailed brand knowledge and customer knowledge, brand alignment and aesthetic. This has helped to shape a 360 degree scope of styling where prior to this my experience had been predominantly editorial and personal styling. In September 2016 I was promoted in the company and was in charge of the Net-A-Sporter section of the site insuring that the global teams styling was always on brand and technically sound.
Projects
- Chilled Denim (Lodown Magazine)Hailing from Germany, this blue eyed, blonde babe was definitely heating up a chilly winter day in Paris. Craving a diet of multi-colour mixed with baguettes, we jumped on the streets of Le Marais to shoot this editorial. You could hardly tell by the pictures that the elements were less than on our side but the sun came out a few hours triumphing over the greys of winter and let Miriam's blonde hair shine. It’s a wardrobe challenge every season. Photographer: Karl Hab Stylist: Nadia Phillips M
- Model Mimic "Kate Moss Tribute"(Oyster Magazine)Copying is the best form of flattery, right? Hell yeah it is, that's why photographer Natalia Parsonson has gone and made a tribute shoot with Valentina Sykes. Dedicated to Kate Moss' glory years (her Corrine Day and Bruce Weber work in particular,) the first edition of Model Mimic is an ode to 90s simplicity. Plain white denim, bucket hats and blowing bubbles — it's all about summer heat made monochromatic. You do a mean Kate, Valentina!
