  • Dame Steve Shirley Illustration
Dame Steve Shirley IllustrationOne of my tasks for Tech Nation has been to create an illustration style that works for the varied types of audiences and content. I created this blog header featuring Dame Steve Shirley as part of a series on influential women in the tech industry. The style of illustration was inspired by the new branding, which works primarily with flat colours but with simple layers of shading and minimal texture. I integrated the brand style using coloured screen tones, to give texture and a branded feelin
  • Upscale Book Campaign
Upscale Book CampaignFor this campaign I created a series of print and digital assets to promote the release of the Upscale book. The visual theme of the campaign was “popping up” so the text appears to move up the page, and animations or visuals of the book pop up from the bottom of the screen. ...I also made some memes...

This is a highly varied role, where I’ve built up a variety of strong skills. The day to day of the role is a mix of design, video production and written content. However, I’ve also undertaken larger projects such as being the nominated marketing lead for diversity and inclusion, including our media partnership for the One Tech diversity initiative. I’ve provided creative direction and design management for a large scale re-brand and run a highly successful video series. I’ve also really contributed to our organisation and efficiency by helping to implement agile working practises using Trello.

I’ve really enjoyed the variety of projects and clients that freelance work provides, and this year I’ve been especially lucky to be the first female filmmaker ever commissioned by FACT Liverpool. Another highlight this year has been developing a visual identity for a new vegan food brand including business cards and a new website. I really enjoyed both of these projects as they were in the arts and food sectors, which differ greatly from my day job.
