I'm a British-Lebanese author, screenwriter, show runner and executive producer.
In 2019, I co-founded Last Floor Productions with Daniel Habib and Firas Abou Fakher, a film and television production house dedicated to bringing Arab voices into the global entertainment industry.
In 2020, we wrote, produced and released two television shows: psychological thriller Doubt and action comedy Fixer. Both were released as Shahid Originals. We also produced a series of musician profiles for Apple in India, and wrote two feature films for a leading Arab production house. Most recently, we produced the exhibition films for the Jameel Prize at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. We have half a dozen fiction projects at various stages of development in the UK, Canada, UAE and Lebanon.
I'm a contributing editor at GQ Middle East, where I have profiled some of the most successful Arab and Middle Eastern figures in arts & culture. I'm also a regular guest on the BBC Arts Hour.
Elsewhere, my writing has appeared in publications including The Guardian, GQ India, Little White Lies, Monocle, Brownbook, and Time Out.
In 2012 I published a best-selling collection of stories & essays, Our Man in Beirut (Turning Point Books).

- V&A Museum: Jameel PrizeOur recent collaboration with the V&A Museum in London on the exhibition films for the Jameel Prize: Poetry to Politics. It was an epic journey for us, meeting eight phenomenal artists across Beirut, London, Dubai, Lahore, New York, Riyadh and Kolkata. And it was an honour to help tell their stories.
