My name is Natalia Constantinou and I have recently completed my master's degree in the field of Fashion Communications at Nottingham Trent University. In combination with my undergraduate degree in Fashion design, I grasped that I have a profound Interest In concepts associated with visual culture and the socio-political environment. Throughout my projects I have always enjoyed creating narratives and visuals, to express my views towards the current socio-political environment.
One of the most important aspects that really intrigues me is how sustainability can be promoted and used throughout fashion. I always enjoy experimenting with innovative and ethical techniques such as recycling, up-cycling and zero-waste manufacturing.
Fashion design was an opportunity for me to discover my own identity as an artist in terms of styling, color, image and even sound. Through my academic practice, I became familiar with different management roles within the fashion industry. While directing photo-shoots for my fashion collections, I collaborated with professional photographers, makeup-artists and models. The direction of fashion photo-shoots helped me develop my organizational and teamwork skills when working under pressure.
Engaging with editorial and production processes in a creative environment, was the reason I chose Fashion Communications for a master’s degree. Studying Fashion Communications, helped me realize how crucial is to be up to date with the current fashion environment and market, in order to gain the ability of forward-thinking in terms of creativity and innovation.
During, both my undergraduate and master’s degrees, I used extensively digital programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. In addition, I have created and designed my personal promotional website which also functions as a digital portfolio of my practice in fashion, art and photography.
As regards my career aspirations, I am always willing to apply for different roles in the fashion industry because I believe that knowledge is built upon any kind of experience.
