As an events professional with over 5 years’ experience, I am very passionate about working within the events sector. I enjoy meeting new people and working with clients and colleagues, forming a positive team relationship whilst achieving set goals. I am currently looking for a challenging and exciting role as my next step in my events career.
Event managing the annual two-day Voluntary Sector and Volunteering Research conference, drinks reception and dinner; sourcing venues, monitoring budgets, dealing with speakers, presenters and sponsors. Marketing events and blogs via the IVR and NCVO websites and social media platforms. Designing marketing collateral, liaising with the design team and external agencies. Coordinating and writing the Institute for Volunteering Research newsletter. Providing administrative support to the Research Team (12 individuals), including invoicing for consultancy work, budget monitoring, booking travel and proof-reading reports. Providing PA support to the Head of Research. Providing event support to the membership and marketing team during the Annual, Trustee conference.
Event managing approximately 15 full day courses/conferences across the UK; the 2015 JIEB graduation ceremony including a drinks reception; the President’s dinner in Berlin. Organising and managing the monthly R3 breakfast briefings and webinar programmes. Sourcing speakers via firms including the “big four”; sourcing venues, managing catering and suppliers. Creating and designing all event collateral, including invitations, menus, joining instructions, feedback forms, booking forms, delegate packs and holding slides. Providing general support to the Events Team Manager as and when required for the Annual Conference.
Acting as front-of-house and runner at events. Dealing with enquiries, bookings and providing administrative support to the events team.
Organising and managing conferences, seminars, promotional events across the Biomedical Research Centre and Dementia Unit (BRC/U). Meeting with academics and staff to discuss and create event programmes. Writing articles for the BRC/U website and e-newsletters. Promoting events via the BRC/U website, eventbrite, email and social media. Achievement - Training an academic committee on how to run and organise events, specifically a two day conference.
Meeting and liaising with a 12 person FD board, discussing event topics and ideas. Producing and managing a yearly regional events programme of 70 - 80 events per year. Responsible for a budget of £38,000 for Central Southern England. Managing event income and authorising regional and member expenditure. Assisting at graduation ceremonies and conferences. Attending and promoting CIMA at careers fairs at universities across the UK. Writing promotional collateral and advertising events via the website and social media outlets. Achievements Thought Leadership events, securing speakers from Unilever, Sky and Xerox. High profile tax conferences with various speakers and breakout sessions attended by 200 delegates.
Managing and delivering events/scheme openings/launches. Devising event invitations and event materials. Working with press officers to ensure press activity before and after events. Liaising with Members of Parliament and local council members. Selecting and purchasing display, promotional and exhibition equipment and material. Identifying and briefing photographers and ensuring photos are produced promptly for media use. Achievements A scheme opening to highlight its sustainable features, hiring marquees, caterers and scissor lifts.
Managing two and one day courses in London; sourcing suitable venues, dealing with suppliers. Producing conference materials such as delegate packs and presentations. Managing all delegate, speaker and working party committee requirements and post-event activities. Achievement - Week long residential course with 200 delegates, 20 speakers, dinner and dance.
Managing two and one day conferences for public facing organisations in education, policing, health and social care, housing; carrying out post-conference evaluation analysis. Liaising with speakers re their requirements, including travel & hotel arrangements. Producing delegate packs, delegate lists, badges checking that all information is accurate and present. Liaising with the event venue contact, sending back contracts or any updated venue arrangements. Dealing with sponsors leading up to the event, chasing logos and company blurbs, advising of venue details. Liaising with audio-visual suppliers, ordering appropriate equipment.
Managing two and one day events for those working within the haematology sector. Registering delegates for events/meetings, booking accommodation if requested. Managing pharmaceutical sponsors and clients requirements. Managing the memberships of the British Infection Society, liaising with BIS executives where necessary. Achievement - Two day conference held in Manchester and attended by 200 delegates.
